A1229 Macbook Pro Bootable USB 10.8 via VMWARE WS

Post by darknkreepy3# »

So, in a very complex issue, my macbook pro would not start and when it did, it would overheat till it almost popped. Do NOT add the fan control module to an old macbook pro hoping it will keep it cool, it will NOT, especially the A1229 macbook pro laptop.

I had only a PC with VMWARE Workstation 10, which after using UNLOCKER 1.10+ it could do OS X 10.8.x and then use that "virtual mac" to build a USB key to then rebuild the REAL mac. Why not just buy it for $30 at the apple store? Fuck apple, a $1200 laptop shouldn't have to have ANOTHER thing bought for it. Thieves.

The image from the web of the 10.8 DMG installer (someone must have already built it and added stuff, it is perfect, and ready to simply restore with DISK UTILITY)
Mac OS X Install ESD.dmg Aug 22, 2012 6:02PM 4.18GB

64gb lexar usb3 key connected to USB2!!!!! so the vmware can use it without special KEXT in the hackintoshed snowy 10.8.x running this)
right click the icon for the usb3 key and connect to the apple vmware system

vmware workstation 10.0.1 build-1379776
os x 10.8.2 (you have to read a tutorial how to do this, they are all over the web, and some are snowy vmware images, etc)
2x3.35ghz
2 gb dram
os x 10.8.2 (12C54)

DISK UTILITY (Macintosh[drive]- > APPLICATIONS -> UTILITIES -> DISK UTILITY)
restore the dmg to the usb2 connected 64gb lexar unit >>> first >>> formatted HFS+ journaled GUID
errror at end, eject (not really an error at all, fuck apple)
turn OFF the laptop and then hold down the option key and press the power button
start with the USB icon image and voila
you can choose to use the disk utility when the first screen comes up and then up top you will find disk utility in a sub-menu
wipe out the partition of the internal drive and make it also HFS+ journaled, possibly one or two (data area) partitions, and make it GUID in the options at the bottom of the partition interface
install to the new guid hfs+ partition
rotating 5400+ drives will take around 25-30 minutes to install
downlaod the 10.8.4+ update and now in 2015 install the free 10.10 yosemite upgrade as well after that
